The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published another update to the “exact match” requirements and again delayed the implementation date – this time without any explanation. CMS has now postponed the full production implementation until April 2020. As a reminder, CMS is requiring that hospitals include the actual service facility address for certain hospital outpatient departments and remote inpatient locations in Loop 2310E of the 837I electronic institutional claims transaction. These addresses must then exactly match to an address registered on the hospital’s Medicare 855A enrollment record. Advis recommends providers use the additional time to complete updates in processing, confirm updates are accurate, and leverage this opportunity to ensure their enrollment and billing records/processes align with correlated provider-based rules and regulations.
